An historic look at mountain life predating Shenandoah National Park, in the context of a walking trail guide.

Author Kristie Kendall, Historic Preservation Manager at Piedmont Environmental Council, will share historic photos and talk about the history of the communities, settlements and life in the mountains up to the time the land was obtained for the creation of Shenandoah National Park. As she does in her book, Kristie provides this history of mountain life in a context that relates to a historic walking trail guide. If sufficient interest, there will be an opportunity for hiking trails after the talk.
6:00 – meet & greet, with beverages and snacks
6:30 to 8:00 – presentation followed by questions and open discussion
